I have decided to have a history of my dealings with skin cancer, for my own interest and for others to see what sun abuse can do to you. 

I am a 67 year old Australian of anglo descendants. As a kid I spent a lot of time in the sun without any sun protection (wasn’t really any available back then, a lot of tanning products etc and some after sun care products). I would burn easily and peel, never really brown. In my youth and for years later I rode motor bikes and on hot days would be seen riding around in jeans and t shirt thus giving the sun a good chance to dry my skin out and burn my arms. 

My father used to get a lot of skin cancers and they were usually burnt off with dry ice. All my siblings also spent time outside in the sun and they have all had problems with skin cancer so I guess we all must have inherited dads skin. 

I look back and think we should have taken notice of what the sun had done to dad but being young these things don’t cross your mind. I now make sure my children do the old Slip, Slop and Slap as I don’t want them to go down the path I have been on for the past 10 years or so. 

One thing I can be glad about is that none of my skin cancers have been melanomas. Had countless Basal Cell Carcinomas frozen and since 2013 had 25 Squamous Cell Cancers surgically removed mainly from my arms and legs. 

Anyhow as this site progresses I will update my journeys to the Skin specialist for removals and supply photos. I shall also put up information about Skin Cancers with links to articles that are relevant. 

Hopefully I can maybe open peoples eyes to some of the issues about being out in the sun unprotected and if I only save one person from going under the scalpel to get the little buggers removed then my job is done and this site has proved valuable.
